Westmar’s four favourite coffee shops in Vancouver

Vancouverites are spoiled — options for a great Cup of Joe exist in most areas across the Lower Mainland. To prove it, we’ve compiled a shortlist of some of our favourite coffee shops, from large operations to holes-in-the-wall, in and around the city.

Lost + Found Café (33 West Hastings St.)

Lost + Found can be, ahem, found right next door to Gastown, and is described by its owners as bohemian and “inspired by art, travel, philanthropy and the love of fresh home-made food.” Serving coffee roasted from organic beans courtesy of fellow local company Republica Coffee, there are other neat offerings on the menu like a coconut cardamom latte.

Pallet Coffee (four locations)

Now with four stores, Pallet Coffee is a neighbourhood favourite. Founded in 2014, Pallet roasts all its beans in-house, which are sustainably sourced from regions all over the globe. A full menu is available featuring cortado, cappuccino, frappes and much more. Breakfast and lunch items are also made on the spot.

Aperture Coffee (two locations)

Formerly the Grind & Gallery, a popular 24-hour haunt of students and night owls alike, Aperture isn’t open all day and night. However, the well-known spot at 4124 Main St. (and one on Broadway) has a unique motorcycle-meets-jazz theme and a great lineup of coffee ranging from drip to a flat white. Drop in on Saturday night for live music.

Fresh Press Coffee Bar (121-4940 No. 3 Rd.)

This cozy 10-seat establishment is nestled in a plaza between Alexandra Road and Alderbridge Way in Richmond. Opening in 2014, Fresh Press is known for its espresso bar staples, specialty drinks like affogato, pour-over and blended smoothies, as well as baked goods like almond croissant and quiche sourced from nearby bakeries.
