Summer is officially less than two weeks away! Here are some events coming up over the coming sunny months.
2019 Strawberry Festival — June 22
The annual West End Seniors’ Network Strawberry Festival is back at Barclay Heritage Square! Come celebrate the sweet red fruit with special musical performances, horse-drawn carriage rides, vendors showcasing all kinds of hand-made items and or course, fresh strawberry shortcakes for purchase.
This all-ages event also features kid-friendly face painting, bouncy castle and colouring. Afterwards, drop by neighbours Roedde House Museum to take in a free tour and Friends for Life to grab a plate of tasty barbecue. There is no cost for admission and the festival runs until 4 p.m.
Real Estate on TAP — June 25
Curious about the current real estate landscape in Vancouver, and happen to like craft beer, too? Then head to Twin Sails Brewing in Port Moody for Real Estate on Tap, and join peers and industry professionals in a free casual evening of brews, appetizers, door prizes and investment discussion.
The hosts include Aaron Lockhead, CIBC mortgage advisor, Mike Mollica, MGM Financial advisor, Michael Lebeau, LeBeau Law Corporation managing partner and REALTOR Hafez Panju.
Richmond Community Day — July 6
The residents of Richmond, and partners TD Bank, City of Richmond, Olympic Oval and T&T Supermarket, are putting together the second Richmond Community Day held at the Oval’s North Plaza. Guests can enjoy games, live music, balloon animals, a sidewalk chalk art competition and meet representatives from the three levels of government. In addition, partake in hot dogs, ice cream, snow cones and cotton candy to fuel up for the many activities.
Non-profit groups based in the city are invited to set up a booth to educate the public about their respective organizations. Interested parties please send Jonathan an email or call 778-773-2552.
RecycleFest 2019 — July 13
Recycling happens 365 days a year, but RecycleFest is the place where, every summer, likeminded individuals gather at Trout Lake to recognize the importance of sustainable living, repairing and recycling. Lower Mainland companies will be on hand to help fix small appliances and power tools, sell sustainably made products and even offer complimentary yoga classes.
For those with any electronics they wish to recycle, bring them to any of the Trout Lake Youth Group volunteers on site between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m.
Propera’s Cinema Under the Stars — Aug. 23
Visit Langley City Park in August to watch the animated adventure Finding Dory shown on a massive three-storey screen, presented by Prospera Credit Union. Things get rolling as soon as the sun sets, but show up any time after 5 p.m. to participate in a few family activities. Donations go towards benefitting a local charity.
