The City of Surrey is inviting people to kick off the holiday season at the eighth annual tree lighting festival on Saturday, Nov. 24 in the Civic Plaza.

No ordinary Christmas tree, this impressive nearly 18-metre tall specimen is adorned with giant decorations and a star topper, and is scheduled to be lit up on at 6:30 p.m., broadcast live on CTV Vancouver.

Presented by Coast Capital Savings, the free event starts at noon and features a holiday marketplace, photos with Santa, cookie decorating and other family friendly activities like road hockey, soccer, inflatables and amusement rides.
